Reported Speech Statements By T’Sumana Hanlamyuang

1. Reported Speech แบบ Reported Statement 1. Reported Speech แบบ Reported Statement มีวิธีการเปลี่ยนจาก Direct Speech เป็น Reported Speech ดังนี้ 1) ตัดเครื่องหมาย comma (,) ออก 2) จะเติม that หลัง Reporting Verbs หรือไม่ก็ได้ 3) ตัดเครื่องหมายคำพูด (Quotation mark) ออก 4) เปลี่ยนสรรพนามในคำพูดให้เข้ากับผู้พูด 5) เปลี่ยน Tense ของคำกริยาในคำพูดให้เข้ากับ Reporting Verbs ซึ่งมี 2 แบบใหญ่ ๆ ดังนี้

5.1 ถ้ากริยานำเป็นปัจจุบัน (Present) ไม่ต้องเปลี่ยนแปลง Tense ใน Reported Speech เช่น Direct Speech  : John says, "I like Mathematics." =>Reported Speech : John says (that) he likes Mathematics. (like และ likes เป็นคำกริยาช่องที่ 1 = Present Simple Tense ทั้งคู่) 5.2 ถ้ากริยานำเป็นอดีต (Past) ต้องเปลี่ยนแปลง Tense ใน Reported Speech ดังนี้ 1) Present Simple Tense เปลี่ยนเป็น Past Simple Tense เช่น Direct Speech       : John said, "I like Mathematics." Reported Speech  : John said (that) he liked Mathematics.

3) Present Perfect Tenseเปลี่ยนเป็น Past Perfect Tense เช่น Direct Speech: Tom said, "I have finished my work." Reported Speech  : Tom said (that) he had finished his work. 4) Past Simple Tense เปลี่ยนเป็น Past Perfect Tenseเช่น Direct Speech  : Malee said, "I went to Bangkok." Reported Speech  : Malee said (that) she had gone to Bangkok. 5) will เปลี่ยนเป็น would เช่น Direct Speech  : John and Tom said, "We will go to Bangkok." Reported Speech  : John and Tom said (that) they would go to Bangkok.

6) shall เปลี่ยนเป็น should เช่น Direct Speech: They said, "We shall go to Bangkok." Reported Speech  : They said (that) they should goto Bangkok. 7) can เปลี่ยนเป็น could เช่น Direct Speech     : Jim said, "I can't speak Thai." Reported Speech: Jim said (that) he couldn't speak Thai. 8) may เปลี่ยนเป็น might เช่น Direct Speech:Peter said,"I may not go to Bangkok." Reported Speech : Peter said (that) he might not go to Bangkok. 9) must เปลี่ยนเป็น had to เช่น Direct Speech:My mother said,"I must go to Bangkok." Reported Speech  : My mother said (that) she had  to go to Bangkok.

ข้อควรจำเพิ่มเติม 1. ถ้าใน Direct Speech มีคำหรือข้อความที่เป็นเวลาให้เปลี่ยนดังนี้ Direct Speech => Reported Speech now               => then today             => that day yesterday       => the day before / the previous day tonight           => that night tomorrow       => the next day / the following day next (week)    => the following (week) ago                => before last (week)     => the previous (week) the day before yesterday   => earlier / two days before the day after tomorrow     => later in two day's time / two days after a year ago         => a year before / the previous year

2. ถ้าใน Direct Speech มีคำหรือข้อความที่แสดงความใกล้-ไกลให้เปลี่ยนดังนี้ Direct Speech => Direct Speech here              => there this                => that these             => those
