Grammar Some/any
Where and How do we use some and any? The words some and any are used for countable and uncountable nouns. Usually, we use some in positive (+) sentences and any in negative (-) and question(?) sentences.
Countable nouns Countable nouns are easy to recognize. They are things that we can count. ham tomato carrot
Uncountable nouns We cannot divide uncountable nouns into separate elements. We cannot "count" them. rice pork milk
We use "some” in positive sentences.
Use some for both countable and uncountable nouns. I have some books. There is some milk in the glass.
Use “any” in negative sentences or questions.
Use any for both countable and uncountable nouns. He doesn't have any pens. Do you have any cheese?
**Questions with Some Use “some” in questions(?) when offering or requesting something that is there. Would you like some bread? (offer) Could I have some water? (request)
