การใช้ Should A. Should + infinitive (should do / should watch ฯลฯ) ดังนี้ I/we/you/they/he/she/it should / shouldn’t do/stop/go/watch ฯลฯ B.         (You) should do something = (คุณ)ควรทำอะไรบางอย่าง (= เป็นสิ่งดีหรือถูกต้องที่จะทำ) เช่น - Tom should go to bed earlier. He goes to bed very late and he’s always tired. -     It’s good film. You should go and see it. …คุณควรไปดูนะ

C. (You) shouldn’t do something = (คุณ)ไม่ควรทำอะไรบางอย่าง shouldn’t = should not เช่น - Tom shouldn’t go to bed so late. Tom -   You watch TV all the time. You shouldn’t watch TV so much. D. เรามักใช้ think กับ should เช่น I think … should … : -   I think Kanda should buy some new clothes. ฉันคิดว่ากานดาควรซื้อเสื้อผ้าใหม่ ๆ บ้าง -   A: Shall I buy this dress? B: Yes, I think you should. I don’t think … should … : -   I don’t think you should work so hard. ฉันไม่คิดว่าคุณควรทำงานหนักมากนัก -  I don’t think we should go yet. It’s to early. Do you think … should … ?. -  Do you think I should buy this hat? - What time do you think we should go home?

E. Must มีความหมายในเชิงแนะนำที่มีน้ำหนักกว่า should เช่น -  It’s a good film. You should go and see it. หนังดีนะ คุณควรไปดู -  It’s a fantastic film. You must go and see it. หนังเยี่ยมมาก คุณต้องไปดู F. อีกคำหนึ่งที่ใช้ในความหมายเดียวกับ should … คือ ought to … เช่น -  It’s a good film. You ought to go and see it. (= you should go) -  I think Kanda ought to buy some new clothes. (=Kanda should buy)
