หลักการใช้ Will 1.sudden decision(การตัดสินใจอย่างฉับพลัน) 2. future events(เหตุการณ์ในอนาคต) 3. Express one’s opinion about future(แสดงความคิดเห็นในอนาคตเป็นการแสดงความคิดเห็นทั่วๆไปหรือบางครั้งในการแสดงความคิดเป็นกลางๆ อาจจะเกิดขึ้นหรือไม่เกิดขึ้นก็ได้) 4. offer or promise(การเสนอให้ความช่วยเหลือหรือสัญญา) 5. If-clause(ในประโยคเงื่อนไข)
หลักการใช้ Be Going To 1.แสดงความตั้งใจที่มีการไตร่ตรองวางแผนล่วงหน้า 2.ใช้ปฏิเสธเพื่อแสดงความไม่เต็มใจ 3.ใช้แทน Present continuous Tense เมื่อกล่าวถึงเหตุการณ์ที่มีวันเวลาระบุไว้ 4.ใช้คาดคะเนว่าจะมีสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่งเกิดขึ้นอย่างแน่นอนโดยมีหลักฐานที่ปรากฏเด่นชัดในขณะที่พูด
ข้อแตกต่างของการใช้ Will กับ Be Going To - ใช้ในการตกลงใน ตัดสินใจเฉพาะหน้า(ทันทีทันใด) -คาดคะเนจากความคิดเห็น - ใช้บอกเล่าข้อเท็จจริงในอนาคต Be Going To -ใช้ในการตกลงใจตัดสินใจโดยไตร่ตรอง -คาดคะเนจากหลักฐานที่ปรากฏชัด -ใช้บอกความตั้งใจว่าจะทำสิ่งหนึ่งสิ่งใดในอนาคต
