Center of Excellence in Immunology & Immune-mediated diseases ศูนย์เชี่ยวชาญเฉพาะทางด้านภูมิคุ้มกันวิทยาและโรคที่เกี่ยวข้องกับระบบภูมิคุ้มกัน We have 3 main research plans consist of: 1. Molecular Genetic Study 2. Diagnostic & Prognostic Marker Development (Molecular & Immunological Markers) 3. Patient Registry / Database Management & Clinical Trial (Multi-center)   Currently, our center of excellence has patient cohort of : “SLE”, the prototype of systemic autoimmune disease, “Psoriasis”, the most common immune-mediated chronic skin diseases; “Chronic Hepatitis B Infection”, which still a major cause of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma in Thailand; “Sepsis”, one of a leading cause of death; “Transplantation”, which increasely being used as standard treatment for various end-stage diseases. Our main researchs aim to identify and validate “Biomarkers” to apply as prognostic and predictor tools for disease severity, complication, and responses to treatment using immunology, molecular biology and high throughput Omics approach for better care of the patients with the concept of personalized therapy. In addition, we are studing disease pathogenesis using various in vitro (mesangial cell line, HBV producing hepatocyte cell line), and in vivo animal model (lupus mouse model, sepsis and various infectious mouse model, chronic kidney injury mouse model).

ศ.พญ.ณัฏฐิยา หิรัญกาญจน์ Nattiya Hirankarn, MD, PhD Head, Center of Excellence in Immunology & Immune mediated Diseases Dept of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine Projects available for Graduate Students (Both MS and PhD) and Postdoctoral fellows “Integrated urinary and renal biomarkers for chronic kidney diseases”: Two MS students are required to study biomarkers for monitoring patients with lupus nephritis and kidney transplantation. This project is funded by the National Science and Technology Development Agency and aims to study various candidate protein and miRNA biomarkers in the serum and urine from the collection of patients. “Role of Specific Notch Ligand as Biomarkers for the Prognosis and as New Targeted Therapy in Hepatitis B-associated Hepatocellular Carcinoma”. One MS student and 1 PhD student are required for this project. A MS student will be working on the study of immunohistochemistry of candidate Notch ligands in the paraffin-embedded tissues of Hepatitis B-associated Hepatocellular Carcinoma in association with clinical parameter. A PhD student will be working on testing the inhibition of Notch ligand in the animal model with engrafted tumor cells.
