Next, manufacturing sector, which composes of around 4.4% of GDP , expanded by 6.1% in 2006 , up from 5.2% in this was supported by strong growth in the export-oriented industries such as automotive and electronic sectors. However, domestic industries , like construction sector , slowed down in line with softening domestic economy. On service sector such as hotel and restaurant expanded by 10.5% in 2006, due to the rebound of tourism sector that had been affected by Tsunami in 2005

2006 = 5.0 %yoy H1 = 4.3 %yoy เศรษฐกิจในช่วงที่ผ่านมา ปี 2549 เศรษฐกิจขยายตัวได้ร้อยละ 5.0 ต่อปี ดีกว่าปีก่อนหน้าที่ขยายตัวที่ร้อยละ 4.5 ต่อปี ซึ่งไม่ว่าเศรษฐกิจไทยจะได้รับผลกระทบจากปัญหาการเมือง ภาวะราคาน้ำมันที่อยู่ในระดับสูง ซึ่งทำให้เศรษฐกิจภายในประเทศ หรืออุปสงค์ภายในประเทศ (Domestic Demand) ชะลอตัวทั้งในด้านการบริโภคและการลงทุน แต่โชคดีที่ภาคการส่งออกของไทยขยายตัวในระดับสูง ทำให้เศรษฐกิจโดยรวมสามารถขยายตัวได้ร้อยละ 5.0 ต่อปี อย่างไรก็ตาม เศรษฐกิจไทยเริ่มมีสัญญาณชะลอตัวตั้งแต่ช่วงครึ่งปีหลังของปี 2549 และในไตรมาสที่ 1 ของปีนี้ สภาพัฒน์ฯ เพิ่งประกาศตัวเลข GDP เมื่อวันจันทร์ฯ ที่ผ่านมา (4 มิ.ย. 50) ว่าเศรษฐกิจไทยยังคงชะลอตัวต่อเนื่องขยายตัวที่ร้อยละ 4.3 โดยปัจจัยสนับสนุนยังคงเป็นภาคการส่งออกที่ขยายตัวได้ดี เศรษฐกิจไทยไตรมาสแรกปี 2550 ขยายตัวร้อยละ 4.2 ไตรมาส 2 ขยายตัวร้อยละ 4.4 ต่อปี ครึ่งแรกของปีขยายตัวร้อยละ 4.3 ต่อปี
