National Research and Education Network NREN is a specialized Internet Service Provider dedicated to supporting the needs of the Research and Education communities within a country. It is usually distinguished by support for a high-speed backbone network, often offering dedicated channels for individual research projects. NRENs are usually the places where new Internet protocols are introduced before deployment within the Internet. Such as Ipv6, Multicast.
Research and Education Networks Some Terminology Research and Education = R&E Research and Education Networks = REN National REN = NREN Globally, the REN connectivity is very complex and very difficult to understand Terminology =คำศัพท์
REN : Characteristics High bandwidth networks Low latency 50G backbones and 100G coming Research typically needs uncongested networks Which means many RENs are lightly used with lots of unused capacity (we call it headroom) * 50 Gbps:10Gx5 Lamda for UniNet/NEdNet Low latency Terrestrial fiber Open Networks with no filtering Firewalls can make it hard for ad-hoc activities uncongested = ไม่ทำให้เกิดความแออัด lightly =อย่างเล็กน้อย Headroom= ที่ว่างโค้งส่วนบน

About UniNet UniNet is the largest internet provider for Thai educational institute. Established in 1996 as a part of Ministry of University Affairs Now is under Ministry of Education UniNet provides hi-speed internet links to universities, educational institutes For advanced research Education and learning UniNet was founded in the year 1996 with the purpose follow as Government policy on that time for link together and develop the teaching and learning of universities and the regional campuses throughout the country and to serve and linkage for the academic and research projects conducted among institutions in foreign countries. This is achieved with the implementation of information technology within a network infrastructure and the optimization of shared network resources. Uninet resembles the central operation unit that is responsible for developing the information technology for Advance research and education and Learning

Research and Education Working Groups and Activities
Community of Education and Research Network in Thailand The Research Community Network project as it foresees the essence of networking development. In this case, the Office has managed annual technical seminars called WUNCA. The seminar is held twice a year with the purpose to brainstorm and receive queries and advices as well as demonstrate technology and provide information to members. The seminar has combined group-meeting to learn information technology as the follows: Research Working Group IPv6 Education Cloud Security Network Open Source Eduroam E-Learning and Multimedia GIS Distance Learning Telemedicine E-Culture CanalAVIST

DCN – Dynamic Circuit Network
Content-Centric Network concept Interest Message-1 User-A Interest Message-1 Interest Message-1 f1 X-Ray data stored in hospital-1 R2 f1 R1 response response response f2 Interest Message-2 response Interest Message-2 f1 R3 /medical --/hospt1 -----/div1 --------/patient-1 -----------/xray-12012011.dcm User-B response PIT Data Face R2 R3 R1 /medical/hospt1/div1/patient-1/xray-12012011.dcm f1 f1,f2 This slide shows the example of CCN working concept. Suppose that the users’ location are different (represent by user-A and User-B in the picture). They would like to access the same content in the hospital-1. (on the right hand side) The request message will send from the users through the CCN network. The R1, R2 and R3 in the picture are CCN-Router. There are three interface in R1, and there are 2 interfaces in R2 and R3. Suppose the interest message of user-A reach the R1 router before interest message of User-B. And then R1 will forward the interest message to the hospital-1. When the interest message of User-B reach the R1 router, in this case the R1 will not forward the interest message of user-B to the hospital-1. Because the content name is the same with User-A. And the content name will be stored into the PIT of R1 router. (You can see a detail of PIT on each router in the table below). The PIT of R1 router is stored a multiple interface on the same content name that is requested from User-A and B. If the response message from the hospital-1 is return to R1, the R1 will send the response message to the both interface, that means the User-A and User-B will receive the response almost the same time. From this example you can see the one thing that important for the CCN. It means the name of content that should be unique.
