Problems of Data Redundancy
Redundancy wastes space on the disk. Redundancy makes updating the database more difficult. A possibility of inconsistent data exists.

Data Redundancy ทำให้เกิดความผิดปกติ 3 แบบคือ
Insertion Anomaly คือ ความผิดปกติจากการเพิ่มข้อมูล จากตารางตัวอย่าง ถ้าลูกค้า Johnson ทำการเปิดบัญชีใหม่ ก็จะต้องใส่ข้อมูลของ Johnson โอกาสที่จะทำให้ใส่ข้อมูลของ Johnson ผิดมีได้ ทำให้ข้อมูลของ Johnson ไม่สอดคล้องกัน Deletion Anomaly คือ ความผิดปกติจากการลบข้อมูล จากตารางตัวอย่าง ถ้าลูกค้า Smith ทำการปิดบัญชี ก็จะต้องลบข้อมูลของ Smith ทำให้ข้อมูลของ Smith หายไปจากระบบ นอกจากนั้นถ้าเจ้าหน้าที่ธนาคารที่รับผิดชอบดูแลลูกค้า Smith ก็ต้องแก้ไขข้อมูลให้ถูกต้องด้วย Update Anomaly คือ ความผิดปกติจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงข้อมูล จากตารางตัวอย่าง ถ้าลูกค้า Johnson ทำการย้ายที่อยู่ ก็จะต้องทำการแก้ไขข้อมูลของ Johnson ทุกแถวที่มีข้อมูลของ Johnson โอกาสที่จะผิดมีได้ ทำให้ข้อมูลของ Johnson ไม่สอดคล้องกัน
