Community of Practice (CoP) กลุ่มของบุคลากรที่มีความสนใจในเรื่องเดียวกัน มารวมตัวกันเพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ ประสบการณ์ในเรื่องนั้นๆ ทำให้เกิดความรู้ใหม่ๆ ที่ก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์แก่องค์กร ชุมชนปฏิบัติ
กิจกรรม CoP มีเวลาพูดคุย ถกเถียง ปรึกษาหารือ ทำงานร่วมกัน ช่วยแก้ไขปัญหาซึ่งกันและกัน นำข้อมูล ความรู้ ประสบการณ์ที่มีมาแลกเปลี่ยนกัน(สิ่งที่สำเร็จ และข้อผิดพลาด) ร่วมกันนำความรู้ที่มีมาเขียนเป็นลายลักษณ์อักษร ความรู้ แนวทางปฏิบัติที่สามารถนำไปใช้ได้
การรวมตัวเป็น CoP ต้นคิดและแกนนำเบื้องต้น กำหนดประเด็น (domain) เชิญชวนผู้ทื่ทำงานในด้านนั้นมาร่วม จัดกิจกรรมแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ที่เหมาะสม เน้นประโยชน์ที่จะเกิดกับสมาชิก รวบรวมองค์ความรู้ที่ได้จากกลุ่มเพื่อการขยายผลให้เกิดประโยชน์ในวงกว้าง สร้างเครือข่าย
