ข้อคิดบางประการเกี่ยวกับศิลปะในรูปแบบ อินสตอลเลชั่น (Installation) มีบทบาทช่วงทศวรรตของปี ค.ศ 1970 หรือ พ.ศ 2513

ความหมายโดยทั่วไปของคำว่า “อินสตอเลชั่น”(Installation) คือการติดตั้ง หรือการการจัดวาง “Installation Art” มีความหมายที่แตกต่างแตกต่างไปจากความหมายทั่วไปโดยสิ้นเชิง (แปลเป็นภาษาไทยว่า ศิลปะติดตั้งหรือศิลปะจัดวาง) อาจจะทำให้เกิดความคลาดเคลื่อนเข้าใจว่าเอาวัสดุหรือสื่ออื่นๆมาติดตั้งและจัดวางที่ไหนก็ได้ **ส่วนมากแล้ววงการศิลปะนานประเทศจะไม่แปลแต่จะเรียกทับศัพท์

An installation of wall paintings in the artist’s retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 2000. His method was to paint directly on the walls, creating works that might not outlast the exhibition.
