Pronoun reference หรือการใช้คำสรรพนามในการอ้างอิง เช่น 1. Tom is a hard working employee. He always arrives office on time. 2. ใช้คำว่า such แทนเหตุการณ์ที่กล่าวถึงมาแล้ว เช่น People nowadays tend to turn back to live with nature. In the past few years many such people have moved to live in the country. Such = people who tend to turn back to live with nature

การละคำหรือข้อความ ออกจากประโยค โดยใช้คำว่า so แทน เช่น David would like to pass the test and go study aboard. In doing so he needs to study harder. So = would like to pass the test and go study aboard

Conjunction reference หรือ การใช้คำสันธานเป็นคำเชื่อมประโยคที่สมบูรณ์ สองประโยคเข้าด้วยกัน เช่น However, Moreover, Although เป็นต้น Lexical cohesion หรือ การใช้คำศัพท์แทนคำหรือวลีที่ได้กล่าวมาให้ประโยค ข้างหน้า เช่น The first example shows a drug overdose taken by a woman who experienced a recent mental problem.
