3 Since these opinions are found on the web, students may accept that such work is not officially ‘published’ (like articles that appear in scholarly academic journals) and thus do not require academic references students may interpret information gathered through web-sites as legitimate’ sources of data, and thus opt to incorporate such findings into their work.

ผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามกว่าร้อยละ 70 ระบุว่าเคยคัดลอกและดัดแปลงข้อความจากอินเทอร์เน็ต หรือเคยนำข้อมูลจากอินเทอร์เน็ตมาใช้โดยไม่เขียนอ้างอิงแหล่งที่มาในระดับตั้งแต่ปานกลางขึ้นไป ในจำนวนนี้ เกือบร้อยละ 40 ระบุว่าเคยละเมิดจริยธรรมในแต่ละด้านในระดับมากขึ้นไป การละเมิดที่พบว่ามีผู้ทำสูงสุดคือการดัดแปลงข้อมูลจากอินเทอร์เน็ตมาเป็นของตนเอง และการไม่เขียนอ้างอิงแหล่งที่มาเนื่องจากไม่ปรากฏแหล่งที่มาอยู่แล้ว และเนื่องจากเป็นเรื่องยุ่งยาก ส่วนผู้ที่ไม่เขียนอ้างอิงแหล่งที่มาเนื่องจากไม่อยากให้ใครรู้ว่าคัดลอกมามีจำนวนน้อยกว่าการไม่อ้างอิงแหล่งที่มาเพราะสองสาเหตุข้างต้น

6 เหตุผลของผู้ที่อ้างอิงที่มา
ได้รับคำแนะนำจากอาจารย์ให้เห็นความสำคัญของการอ้างอิง หากไม่อ้างอิงเกรงว่าจะถูกอาจารย์ตัดคะแนน เห็นความสำคัญของการอ้างอิงด้วยตนเอง แม้จะอ้างอิงแหล่งที่มาก็ไม่ได้เห็นความสำคัญ แต่ทำไปเพื่อให้ครบถ้วนตามรูปแบบของการทำรายงานเท่านั้น อ้างอิงเพราะทำให้ข้อมูลมีความน่าเชื่อถือ มิใช่อ้างอิงเพราะเหตุผลทางจริยธรรม

7 ผู้ที่ไม่อ้างอิง ไม่เห็นความสำคัญ
ไม่ได้อ้างอิงเนื่องจากมีเจตนาที่จะใช้อินเทอร์เน็ตเพื่อคัดลอกงาน เข้าใจว่าเนื้อหาที่เผยแพร่บนอินเทอร์เน็ตเป็นเนื้อหาที่เปิดเผยให้สาธารณชนได้ใช้ จึงไม่จำเป็นต้องอ้างอิง การทำงานส่งอาจารย์ไม่จำเป็นต้องอ้างอิงเนื่องจากไม่ได้เผยแพร่ในวงกว้าง นำข้อมูลจากหลายแหล่งมาประมวลกัน และใส่ความคิดเห็นหรือการวิเคราะห์ของตนลงไปด้วย ถ้าในลักษณะนี้ตนไม่คิดว่าเป็นการละเมิดลิขสิทธิ์ และอาจารย์ถือว่าเป็นการสังเคราะห์ด้วยตัวผู้เรียนเอง

13 Technology has given cheaters and people with low ethical standards more options for dishonesty. Via the Internet, one can buy term papers, look for old tests and answers, and even find someone to act as an impersonator throughout an entire course.

16 อิทธิพลของเนื้อหา Social Cognitve Theory (Bandura)
พฤติกรรมของคนเราส่วนมากจะเป็นการเรียนรู้โดยการสังเกต (Observational Learning) หรือการเลียนแบบจากตัวแบบ (Modeling) สำหรับตัวแบบไม่จำเป็นต้องเป็นตัวแบบที่มีชีวิตเท่านั้น แต่อาจจะเป็นตัวสัญลักษณ์ เช่น ตัวแบบที่เห็นในโทรทัศน์ หรือภาพยนตร์หรืออาจจะเป็นรูปภาพการ์ตูนหนังสือคำบอกเล่าด้วยคำพูดหรือข้อมูลที่เขียนเป็นลายลักษณ์อักษรก็เป็นตัวแบบได้
