3 ประวัติ ชาร์ลส์ ดิกคินส์ เป็นชื่อของนักเขียนชาวอังกฤษที่ใช้นามปากกาว่า "โบซ" (Boz) เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 7 กุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ ที่แคว้นแฮมเชียร์ของอังกฤษ แต่อยู่แฮมเชียร์ได้เพียง 3 ปี เขาก็ย้ายมาในลอนดอนและแชทแธม ก่อนจะได้เรียหนังสือและทำงานเป็นเด็กรับใช้ในสำนักงานทนายความชั้นสองในเวลาต่อมาหลังจากนั้น โชคชะตาผลิกโผให้เขาได้เข้าไปทำงานด้านหนังสือพิมพ์ในฐานะผู้สื่อข่าจุดเริ่มต้นของงานเขียนจึงเริ่มต้นจากตรงนี้ และหลังจากที่มีทักษะในการเขียนข่าวแบบความต่าง ๆ ลงในหนังสือพิมพ์แล้ว ต่อมาก็ได้เขียนเรื่องสั้นลงในนิตยสารรายเดือนของลอนดอน ก่อนจะต่อยอดเป็นการสร้างสรรค์งานเขียนเพื่อสังคมและวรรณกรรม
