Instant Messaging Instant messaging or IM is a form of real-time communication between two or more people based on typed text. The text is conveyed via computers connected over a network such as the Internet.

Instant Messaging - History ช่วง 1980-1990 ได้มีการ ใช้ในวงการศึกษาและ วิศวกร ในชื่อ UNIX/LINUX Talk และ ในอินเทอร์เน็ต ประมาณเดือน พ. ย. พ. ศ. 2539 โดยได้มีการพัฒนา ICQ มาใช้เป็น Messager ในเครื่องที่ไม่ใช่ UNIX/LINUX เป็นครั้งแรก หลังจากนั้นได้มีการพัฒนา IM อย่างต่อเนื่องทำให้ มีผู้ใช้งาน IM หลายตัวภายในเครื่องเดียวกัน ใน ปัจจุบันนอกจากความสามารถในการส่งข้อความ ต่างๆ ยังได้มีการรับรองการใช้งานอื่นๆ เช่น การ ส่งไฟล์ การประชุมออนไลน์ ( VoIP) ฯ
