Knowledge work systems (KWS) Information systems that aid knowledge workers in the creation and integration of new knowledge in the organization. ใช้สนับสนุนกลุ่มผู้ทำงาน พนักงานกลุ่มที่มีความรู้สูง(knowledge workers) ส่วนระบบสำนักงาน(office System) ใช้สำหรับเจ้าหน้าที่หรือพนักงานที่เกี่ยวข้องกับข้อมูลโดยตรง เช่นพนักงานป้อนข้อมูล(data entry workers)

Management information systems (MIS) Information systems at the management level of an organization that serve the functions of planning, controlling, and decision making by providing routine summary and exception reports. ใช้สนับสนุนการทำงานของผู้บริหารระดับล่างและ ระดับกลางในการนำเสนอรายงาน ข้อมูลเฉพาะด้านและข้อมูลในอดีต ระบบ MIS ช่วยงานด้านการวางแผน การควบคุมและการตัดสินใจ โดยนำข้อมูลมาจาก TPS

Decision-support systems (DSS) Information systems at the organization’s management level that combine data and sophisticated analytical models or data analysis tools to support nonroutine decision making. สนับสนุนการทำงานของผู้บริหารระดับกลาง ช่วยในการตัดสินใจแบ่งกึ่งมีโครงสร้าง เพราะไม่สามารถแก้ปัญหาล่วงหน้าได้ ข้อมูลที่ได้นำมาจากระบบ TPS ,MIS โดยเป็นข้อมูลในองค์กร แต่ก็สามารถนำข้อมูลจากภายนอกมาใช้เพี่อให้เหมาะสมกับการแก้ปัญหา
