1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who is seated on many waters,

1 ทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งในเจ็ดองค์ที่ถือขันเจ็ดใบนั้น มาหาข้าพเจ้าและพูดว่า “เชิญมานี่เถิด ข้าพเจ้าจะให้ท่านดูการพิพากษาลงโทษหญิงแพศยาคนสำคัญที่นั่งอยู่บนน้ำมากหลาย

2 with whom the kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality, and with the wine of whose sexual immorality the dwellers on earth have become drunk.”

2 คือหญิงที่บรรดากษัตริย์ทั่วแผ่นดินโลกได้ล่วงประเวณีด้วย และคนทั้งหลายที่อยู่ในแผ่นดินโลก ก็ได้มัวเมาด้วยเหล้าองุ่นแห่งการล่วงประเวณีกับหญิงนั้น”

3 And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns.

3 ทูตสวรรค์องค์นั้น ได้นำข้าพเจ้าเข้าไปในถิ่นทุรกันดารโดยพระวิญญาณ และข้าพเจ้าได้เห็นผู้หญิงคนหนึ่ง นั่งอยู่บนสัตว์ร้ายสีแดงเข้มตัวหนึ่ง ซึ่งมีชื่อหลายชื่อ เป็นคำหมิ่นประมาทเต็มไปทั้งตัว มันมีเจ็ดหัวและสิบเขา

4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality.

4 หญิงนั้นนุ่งห่มด้วยผ้าสีม่วงและสีแดงเข้ม และประดับด้วยเครื่องทองคำ เพชรพลอยต่างๆ และไข่มุก หญิงนั้นถือถ้วยทองคำที่เต็มด้วยสิ่งน่าสะอิดสะเอียน และของโสโครกแห่งการล่วงประเวณีของตน

5 And on her forehead was written a name of mystery: “Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth's abominations.”

6 And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I marveled greatly.

6 และข้าพเจ้าเห็นหญิงนั้นเมามายด้วยโลหิตของพวกธรรมิกชน และโลหิตของคนทั้งหลายที่พลีชีพ เพื่อเป็นพยานของพระเยซู เมื่อข้าพเจ้าเห็นหญิงนั้นแล้ว ข้าพเจ้าก็อัศจรรย์ใจยิ่งนัก

7 But the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel
7 But the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her.

7 ทูตสวรรค์องค์นั้นจึงถามข้าพเจ้าว่า “เหตุไฉนท่านจึงอัศจรรย์ใจ ข้าพเจ้าจะบอกให้ท่านรู้ความหมายที่แฝงอยู่ของหญิงนั้น และของสัตว์ร้ายที่มีเจ็ดหัวและสิบเขาที่เป็นพาหนะของหญิงนั้น

8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come.

8 สัตว์ร้ายที่ท่านได้เห็นนั้นเป็นอยู่ในกาลก่อน แต่บัดนี้มิได้เป็น และมันจวนจะขึ้นมาจากบาดาล เพื่อไปสู่ความพินาศแล้ว และคนทั้งหลายที่อยู่ในโลก ซึ่งไม่มีชื่อจดไว้ในหนังสือแห่งชีวิต ตั้งแต่แรกทรงสร้างโลกนั้นก็จะประหลาดใจ เมื่อเขาเห็นสัตว์ร้ายซึ่งได้เป็นอยู่ในกาลก่อน แต่บัดนี้มิได้เป็น และกำลังจะเป็น

9 This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; 9 นี่ต้องใช้สติปัญญา หัวทั้งเจ็ดนั้นคือเนินเขาเจ็ดยอดที่หญิงนั้นนั่งอยู่

10 they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while.

11 As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction. 11 สัตว์ร้ายที่เป็นแล้วเมื่อก่อน แต่เดี๋ยวนี้ไม่ได้เป็นนั้นก็เป็นที่แปด แต่ก็ยังเป็นองค์หนึ่งในเจ็ดองค์นั้น และจะไปสู่ความพินาศ

12 And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast.

12 เขาทั้งสิบเขาที่ท่านได้เห็นนั้น คือกษัตริย์สิบองค์ ที่ยังไม่ได้เสวยราชสมบัติ แต่จะรับอำนาจอย่างกษัตริย์ด้วยกันกับสัตว์ร้ายนั้นหนึ่งชั่วโมง

13 These are of one mind and hand over their power and authority to the beast. 13 กษัตริย์ทั้งหลายนั้น มีน้ำพระทัยอย่างเดียวกัน และทรงมอบฤทธิ์และอำนาจของตนไว้แก่สัตว์ร้ายนั้น

14 They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.”

14 กษัตริย์เหล่านี้จะกระทำสงครามกับพระเมษโปดก และพระเมษโปดกจะทรงมีชัยชนะ เพราะว่าพระองค์ทรงเป็นจอมเจ้านาย และทรงเป็นจอมกษัตริย์ และผู้ที่อยู่กับพระองค์นั้น เป็นผู้ที่พระองค์ได้ทรงเรียกและทรงเลือกไว้ และเป็นผู้ที่ซื่อสัตย์ก็จะมีชัยด้วย”

15 And the angel said to me, “The waters that you saw, where the prostitute is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages.

15 และทูตสวรรค์นั้นบอกข้าพเจ้าว่า “น้ำมากหลายที่ท่านได้เห็นหญิงแพศยานั่งอยู่นั้น ก็คือชนชาติมวลชนประชาชาติ และภาษาต่างๆ

16 And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire,

16 เขาสิบเขาที่ท่านได้เห็นและสัตว์ร้าย จะพากันเกลียดชังหญิงแพศยานั้น จะทำให้นางไร้มิตรและเปลือยกาย และจะกินเนื้อของหญิงนั้น และเอาไฟเผานางเสีย

17 for God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.

17 เพราะว่าพระเจ้าทรงดลใจเขาให้กระทำตามพระทัยของพระองค์ โดยการทรงทำให้พวกมันมีความคิดอย่างเดียวกัน และมอบอาณาจักรของเขาให้แก่สัตว์ร้ายนั้น จนถึงจะสำเร็จตามพระวจนะของพระเจ้า

18 And the woman that you saw is the great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth.” 18 และผู้หญิงที่ท่านเห็นนั้นก็คือนครใหญ่ ที่มีอำนาจเหนือกษัตริย์ทั้งหลายทั่วแผ่นดินโลก”
